Treasure Island is an artificial island in San Francisco Bay and a neighborhood of the City of San Francisco. Built 1936–37 for the 1939 Golden Gate International Exposition, the island’s World’s Fair site is a California Historical Landmark. The artist of the island’s new “Bliss Dancer” statue contacted Raider because the statue was in need of a corrosion control system that would withstand the constant San Francisco humidity and other harsh environmental elements. We cleaned the metal surfaces to remove contaminants and then wire brushed to scuff surfaces. We then applied DTM (direct-to-metal) primer followed by a polyurethane finish coat in metallic silver. The result is a great aesthetic finish with long lasting corrosion protection of the substrate, as well as UV protection.
